Word is getting out and we are so excited about the camp ( see below).  Some concepts we will be working with and expanding upon are balance, observation, freedom, weightlessness, diligence in problem solving, and of course joy. Joan’s Summer Art Camp    

Not your ordinary day camp!!  

Group size limited to 8, with two instructors!

For 8 to 11 year olds.

        

 Program

TRIPS to Museums, Aquarium (and other city

 activities, specific for the dates) Nature Hikes! Swimming at the local pool

RESPONSE to these visits in paint, mixed media, modeling materials in my West Village studio.

Art activities will be designed to enhance outside experiences, and vice versa.

    Joan has over 30 years experience as an exhibiting artist;  

Has an MFA in painting, and an Ed.M and ABD in Art Education,

Taught after school art for over 6 years

Has taught in public and private schools, and designed a district wide art program, consulted on others.

                      Her assistant is a design major, who has experience working with children and is planning graduate

work in art education  

Specifics

Dates- July 2- Aug 17

Duration of sessions:  1 week each

Schedule repeating every two weeks, with some variations

Time: 9 to 4:30.  

Minimum enrollment per weekly session: 6

Early drop off ( 8:30) and/or late pick up(5:00) for 25.00 extra, (each) per week.

Cost per week; 650.00. ($520 for week of July 2^nd, to accommodate the holiday).

10% Discount if paid before May 15^th. 100 dollars off your child’s tuition, if you get another to sign up

(Parents responsible for lunch, snacks, and all admission and transportation fees-payable weekly in advance)

HI.  Just a catch up- it was a very eventful summer and fall. But I am now gearing up for next summers art camp in and around the city.  Please stay posted.  The camp size will be limited (7 or 8 children, probably between 8 and 11 years old), as will the number of sessions.  I have some exciting ideas that I will be developing further this winter.  Will start reaching out for campers early April.  Stay tuned!  Joan

Hi All!  Just a note to say I will not be working with kids this summer-in my studio or as a camp.  I am doing an artist residency in England and then painting in NM.   Keep checking in with me, as I love working with your children, and have no intention of stopping.  Just doing a bit of reconnecting with nature an my art.
If you are new to this site- DO scroll through ALL the posts- the ages and work vary so much.  At the end of each page, go to older posts.  A very linear format at present.

After school art classes?

 5 students max! 3 to start a class.

In my West Village art studio.  

My classes are VERY DIFFERENT  from most after school art classes that have up to 20 students!

Your child will develop, gain confidence in his/her own artistic voice.

Contact me for preferred day.  Classes grouped loosely by age.

After school.   1 hr 15 min. plus snack time.

All school holidays are observed.

I will supply materials and snack.  Smocks needed.

A field trip is possible.  In that case, parents are responsible for admission fees. 

Tuition: 750.00 per semester for 3 students, per student (3 is the minimum for a group class) Again tuition will be prorated  according to start date, in Sept.

A refund of 50.00 per student with enrollment of 4 students, and 100.00 per student with enrollment of 5 will be given- if all are enrolled within same week.

Visiting Art Teacher to Your School, during or after.

 Paint and color mixing.  Collage.  Fun.  Great professional development for classroom teachers.   
I hold 2 art education degrees ( if an ABD can be called a degree? Did the classwork) and an MFA.  I have taught k-12 in and out of public schools, and written curriculum for a school district.
Up to 10 students with assisting teacher.  5 without.

Based on  6 week units, of two classes meeting weekly

2/50 minute classes per day, back to back  $150 per class, or $1800 for 6 week session- FOR THE SCHOOL

This schedule is flexible depending upon your schools needs.

      SHARE WITH YOUR CHILDS SCHOOL!  

Also starting:

New! Adult drawing classes.  (To be followed with Painting Classes).  Take advantage of my experience.

Tuition:  This depends upon the number of students in the class.

Adults are bigger- therefore even smaller classes!

2 students, 1500 per student, per semester.

3 students 1000 each- per semester.

Days: OPEN. 2 1/2 hour classes, weekly.  Student supplies own materials.  Model fees extra.  

Times:  evening.  Or any day time slots, until filled by other classes. ( Tuesday a.m. not available)

Class size limited to 3 adults.

Day and time OPEN

Jr and high school students who want to present work to an art school. Any open afternoon slot, or evenings, Tuesday through Thursday (preferred, but other days considered).  2 students minimum.

Classes will be 1 1/2 hours long.  

Tuition: $850 for semester  Student buys materials ( Not expensive- charcoal, ink, etc).
